Sky Princess

Sky Princess, launched in 2019 is the newest Royal-class ship from Princess Cruises. This ship is the next step in the evolution of the Royal-class ships and includes major design and technology updates.

New additions include Take Five jazz club, an interactive escape room and a redesigned aft area including a new infinity pool. The escape room wasn't quite ready on our sailing so we look forward to the reviews. The new infinity pool is a welcome addition and offers spectacular views across the aft of the ship.

There's also been a major redesign to Princess Live! Previously this was a walled in venue but now it's been opened up, it feels much larger and welcoming. The lounge is home to live music, games shows, karaoke and art auctions. It's a really fun place on an evening. Once people have had a few drinks the karaoke is a blast!

Sky Princess is the first Royal-class ship to be fully Ocean Medallion enabled. This new technology gives guests faster boarding - by completing check-in before arriving at the port, contactless entry to cabins, fast ordering of food and drinks using a mobile device, friend and family locator and information about your voyage. We were super impressed with Ocean Medallion. There are still a few bugs but when they are ironed out it will be fantastic. Well done to Princess for pushing the envelope here.

Accommodation

The majority of the ship's cabins have balconies. The cabins feel spacious and bright thanks to the lovely interior design. We can't forget to mention the Princess Luxury bed, it's honestly the most comfortable bed ever, like sleeping on a marshmallow cloud!

Sky Princess is the first ship to include the new Premium Oceanview cabins at the front of the ship and the Sky Suites. Whilst the Sky Suites are beautiful inside with the biggest balcony at sea we felt they were missing a private hot tub.

Dining

New partnerships with Chef Emmanuel Renaut and Chef Angelo Auriana elevate the ship's speciality dining venues and the included options such as the Main Dining Room, buffet, International Cafe and Alfredo's Pizzeria (the best pizza at sea!) are excellent. There is so much choice for food onboard. Discover more with our guide to dining on Sky Princess.

Entertainment

Entertainment has been reinvigorated with three new and exclusive shows; 5-Skies, Rock Opera and Jim Henson's Inspired Sillinesscreated in partnership with Jim Henson's studios. We saw the world premiere of Rock Opera and it was superb! the dancing, staging, costumes and music were really fantastic. It's a must-see.

You'll still find Princess favourites such as Movies Under the Stars and The Voice of the Ocean. If you are staying in a Sky Suite you have the choice to pick the movie for viewing on your balcony - how cool is that?

Whilst this ship may not have water slides or other gimmicks it does offer impressive entertainment, dining and expansive pool areas. Families are also well catered for with a range of children's clubs created with Discovery Channel that blend fun and education for all ages.

Fellow Passengers

Sky Princess appeals to a large mix of travellers. Generally, the crowd is more mature with many couples. However, you can find a good amount of multi-generational families, particularly in the school holidays.

While the majority of cruisers are North Americans, you will also find many Brits, Australians and New Zealand cruisers.
