Marriott Courtyard Gatwick Airport

Our stay at the Marriott Courtyard Gatwick Airport was one night stay before an early flight the next day. We decided to book a standard room about three months before our stay. At £59 for one night it was the cheapest option at Gatwick and you also collect Marriott Reward points.I have stayed at full-scale Marriott’s on multiple occasions. With the rate been so low and knowing courtyard is a budget alternative, we didn’t have high expectations. But I have to say we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel located just outside the south terminal building. The walk is an easy 10/15 minutes and is well lit and well signposted. It has easy walk-able access to the train station and also offers self-parking at £25 a night. The hotel does have a shuttle bus for £3 one way but we found this unnecessary particularly for a price.First impressions of the room were how large it was. A large suitcase area and wardrobe space gave way to a large bed, desk area and reading chair. The room was very welcoming and cosy. There was so much space in this room it was incredible.Other amenities in the room included a kettle with tea and coffee, TV with Freeview channels as well as pay per view. We also received two complimentary bottles of water as well as free WiFi.The bathroom was also large and had a walk-in shower in place of a bath. I personally prefer this and think it's much more fitting for a hotel. The bathroom was impeccably clean and modern. The bed was incredibly comfortable and I had a fantastic night’s sleep. Although I was up early this was due to excitement about the holiday! The hotel also has a restaurant and bar although we did not try these. A McDonald's and M&S Food was within walking distance but you have to cross a major road and it does not have a path.Other amenities in the hotel include a Gym and event space. For anyone looking for a Gatwick hotel, I would highly recommend this hotel. The rooms are the same standard as a full-scale Marriott. The hotel does not have a pool or gym but I find them worthless for a one-night stay. The hotel is a terrific option for anyone looking for a mid-range hotel in the Gatwick area with walk-able links to the Airport.
