The 7 Things We Love About Disney Cruise Line

This week we looked at Disney Cruise Line to see if it's the cruise liner that suits you! It’s no secret that we are huge Disney Cruise Line fans #disneygeeks! so we thought that we would rank the top 7 things we love about Disney Cruise Line.

7 - Door Decorations, Fish Extenders & Pixie Dusting

At number 7 is fish extenders. If you are new to Disney Cruise Line, they are basically a coat hanger that cruisers make to hang on the decorative fish hook that is located next to your cabin door. It's a nice touch and the whole family can get involved with making their own. Some are incredibly creative and it’s fun to wander around the ship to look at everyone’s creations. You can join groups online (such as the DIS or Cruise Critic forums) to exchange gifts, depositing them in the fish extenders. Our favourite thing is Pixie Dusting where someone randomly deposits gifts into your fish extender. It’s a nice surprise touch! Take some little gifts so that you can pick some random rooms and Pixie Dust some other cruisers!

6 - Random Character Meets

The nicest thing about a Disney Cruise is that you could bump into a character at any time. Make sure you always have your camera at hand, you never know when you may bump into Goofy or Mickey! There are also organised meet and greets and photo shoots with characters. This is unlike the parks which can be havoc when meeting a character.

5 - The Ship's Horn

Another example of Disney magic is the ship's horn. If you don’t see a Disney ship, you will hear it is as the ship's horn play Disney tunes! Its makes any ship horn battle a sure win.

4 - The Service

Disney is known for good customer service but we think that Disney Cruise Line is the best of the best. From the Room servers who get to know your dining preferences to the bar staff and cabin stewards. The level of service on a Disney cruise is outstanding.

3 - The Staterooms

The rooms are spacious, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Balconies are roomy and the split bathroom is also a nice touch, especially for families getting ready. The storage is ample with plenty of closet space and even room under the bed for even more storage. There is nothing more relaxing than popping back to your cabin for an afternoon break and turning the TV on to find back to back Disney movies and programming.

2  - The Food

The food on-board is amazing.  The buffet has a wide selection of dishes and we love all the awesome seafood on offer. The main dining rooms are beautiful and the food is delicious. At times, we have ordered multiple dishes just because we can’t decide between them and have tried specialties such as escargot (french snails!) - all of which are included in the price. We find the food on-par with the specialty dining restaurants found on other ships. If you are still hungry there are snack stations scattered throughout the ships. On many occasion, we would complain we were too full but still pop to the pub for nachos and chicken wings because they are just so good!

1 - The Décor

Finally, the number one thing we love about Disney Cruise Line is the décor and theming. The first time we sailed with Disney we were immediately WOWED. Upon boarding and seeing the atrium, our second thought was “We're booking again!”The ships are beautiful. They are elegant with references to old cruise ships such as the Queen Mary. The themes are decadent and classic with thoughtful Disney touches all around the ships. It's these small details that make the ship a wonderful place to explore. The bars in the adult only After Hours areas are immersive and so beautiful you will never want to leave. Our favourite location is 'Keys' on the Disney Magic for its piano themed décor and decadent style furnishings. For the children, the theming is even more immersive with huge spaces dedicated to Marvel, The Mickey Mouse Club and a Toy Story play area. The teens also can enjoy a lounge away from the younger kids.
