Majestic Princess arrives on world’s first floating runway

Majestic Princess has ‘touched down’ in her new home port of Sydney with a spectacular 1,550 metre-long illuminated floating runway.

The 3,560-guest Majestic Princess arrived into Sydney via the 1,550 metre-long illuminated floating runway The runway was created by 62 buoys with red and white flares that guided her path into Sydney Harbour.

The spectacular celebration was held to mark the maiden arrival of Majestic Princess. The ship is the largest Princess Cruises’ vessel ever to visit Australia.

Majestic Princess will be home ported in Sydney for the next six months. She joins three other Princess ships based in Australia. The Sun, Sea and Golden Princess will sail from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Fremantle, and Adelaide.

Princess Cruises recently announced its largest ever deployment in the region for 2019-2020. Five ships will travel to more than 100 destinations and carry around 200,000 guests.

Australia has become a popular destination with Brits and has nearly doubled year-on-year in 2018. The extra capacity will help meet the growing demand.

Return of The Cruise

Princess Media tweeted that the first round of filming for the next series of ‘ ITV series ‘The Cruise’ has concluded.

Majestic Princess’ current sailing is being filmed as for the return of the series which is due to air on ITV in early 2019.

The documentary will give viewers a look into what life is like for both crew and guests as they sail around Australia and New Zealand.
